Wedding celebrations

EAT, EAT, EAT!!!

Wedding receptions in Italy are not over until all the guests feel so full they need someone to carry them home in a wheelbarrow. Gastronomic excess is the only way to get wedding guests to leave the Italian restaurant where the festive celebration is taking place, as exhausted waiters serve course after course of gourmet Italian food.

Italian guests heartily eat away the best that Italy has to offer, chatting about politics, economics and soccer. Their discussions rarely reach a consensus or conclusion but everyone will find enjoyment from the happy company and good food being served.

The Wedding reception

The Wedding receptions follow the ceremony. Guests arrive before the wedding couple at the restaurant. The waiters offer them some aperitifs while they wait for the arrival of the spouses from their photo tour. Often during the banquet, the bride and groom go from table to table, greeting and chatting with every guests, so everyone feels welcomed..

It is customarily that the bride throws her bouquet to the single ladies attending the banquet. Whoever catches the bouquet will be the next to get married! Go, ladies, go!!!! ;)

The wedding couple remains till the end of the reception and not only, sometimes the very close friends stay with the couple even after the reception, they go all together for a drink.

Reception dances

Live music is played at Italian wedding receptions, particularly at celebrations in southern Italy. The bride and groom should be the first to dance, according to etiquette. After this, the bride shares a dance with her father, and the groom dances with his mother. Guests are also encouraged to dance with the bride and groom during the reception; male guests dance with the bride, and female guests dance with the groom.
