Drinks, meal and toast

Eating a lot of delicious and genuine food accompanied by the best wines, Limoncello and liquors is one of the main experiences you will encounter at a wedding in Italy. Prosecco and soft drinks are served as an aperitif before the banquet feast. A commonly heard wedding toast is "Per cent'anni", meaning "for a hundred years". The wedding feast often begins with antipasto and continues with a sumptuous multi-course dinner. After the meal, wedding cake is served with espresso and other coffees.

Odd food...yeah, we also have it!!

Ok, yes, I admit it..we  are still somehow primitive deep inside...and we love raw seafood..and by raw seafood I mean mussels, oysters and octopus..it is generally served along with the appetizers..you don’t have to eat it (I personally love it), but don’t make strange faces if you see many Italians gathering and fighting to get their portions of raw shrimps..
Another unusual person at a true Italian wedding is the so called “casaro”, or “mozzarella man”: a persona totally dedicated to prepare mozzarella live..you will eat them still hot..a unique experience to taste true mozzarella and burrata taste..

Italian wedding cake

The Italian wedding cake is white (for purity) and multi-layered, topped by figurines representing the bride and groom. These two plastic representations appear smiling and looking over with approval in the direction of all the guests at the reception.
